THE HUG PROJECT

“Initially everything started because I didn’t get a hug. Just a simple hug. I was heart broken and I could not understand what is wrong with people and this society. I wanted to make a difference. I wanted people to hug more. To connect more. To love each other more.

That is how THE HUG PROJECT came into my thoughts and slowly took over my every day actions. Till it became an obsession. I always thought why would anyone fear being loved or to love, when showing, expressing and sharing it truly has absolutely no negative attachments. Touching and hugging fights depression and anxiety. I feel that we can only progress with the love we give. There is a sense of fulfilment in seeing the love you have offered out, knowing others have accepted and taken it onboard. Maybe even using it to better their life. In turn the world will become a better place from individuals loving not only themselves but finally each other.

This photo project has been a very interesting ride. I was absolutely overwhelmed to see such raw emotions in front of the lens. To get into people’s life in a short time is hard, but to get into their essence is even harder. I felt blessed to have bared witness to this beautiful process.

I observed. I learnt. I touched. I felt alive.

My obsession finally found peace.

The project is about body contact and body expression. How do we use our body language to express our emotions. Our ideas.

To give a message. To give love.

Being… One.”
