SKIN

The SKIN photographic project, initiated by artist Cristina Bevilacqua, delves into the shared experiences of the Cairns community, drawing parallels between the natural environment and human bodies. This work addresses themes of vulnerability, shame, and acceptance, highlighting the beauty in physical imperfections. Through anonymous portraits, the photographer emphasises our shared humanity and promotes self-acceptance in an era dominated by unrealistic beauty standards and artificial intelligence. This ongoing project aspires to foster social change and make a meaningful difference in the world. There are plans to compile these narratives and images into a future book.
